The film OMG takes the benefit of this duality in Hindu
religion which is basically a belief in one God, the
Parabrahmn, yet, at the same time, it has characters like
Vishnu and Shiva who are almost autonomous gods and there are
incarnations like Rama and Krishna.
Among Hindus, all of them are considered as the supreme gods
and the four replace on stage the Almighty or the most
powerful , highest God. Perhaps even Arya Samajis would have
forgotten Brahmn! Krishna is the central figure in a host of
mythical stories, but it are these myths that bind him. If he
has to be happy, he comes with flute and peacock feather, his
signature symbols. OMG would not have taken Rama as he is so
pious, self-centred, serious with no sense of humour and no
funny situations. Vishnu and Shiva could have played the role
well. Shiva would have been much better because he could even
ride a bike.
In the film OMG, a very limited earthquake destroys the shop
of Kanji, a character in the film. If Krishna had been in the
film, he might have targeted Sishupal and killed only him
directly.
Since the film was first translated into Gujarati and Krishna
was from Dwarka, Krishna was the natural choice and Bholenath
lost this role that seemed tailor-made for him.
The biggest weakness of this film is that it depicts Ishwar
as the product of religion but everyone is aware that the
concept of Ishwar was born first and religion came later with
its attendant rites and rituals, puja and paat to cater to
people. Human behaviour needed to be guided by these rites
and rituals. God was necessary to make human beings feel love
and fear, both at the same time.
